Tourist Attractions

The beauty of the mountains, the opportunity to see Asturcones and fallow deer at close quarters, the panoramic views, the nearby beaches, the pretty villages, the important yew forests, and the Asturcon fiesta give plenty enough reasons to visit the Sueve mountains, but here are two more.

Fito Viewpoint. Often regarded as the finest views in the whole of Asturias - and that's quite a claim! - the Fito viewpoint (Mirador del Fito) is situated at the highest point of the AS-260 road from Arriondas to Colunga. Installed in 1927, the viewpoint itself is an elevated concrete platform, bringing to mind the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. Views of the coast, the jagged Picos de Europa, and the surrounding countryside are superb. There are small gift-shops and a café at the car-park.

Sueve Interpretation Centre. Centrode Interpretación de la Sierra del Sueve. Situated in the village of Gobiendes on the north side of the Sueve, close to the pre-romanic church, the centre has exhibitions and information about the Sueve, and offers guided walks. See for details.
