Hotel Situation

 

Hotel Posada del Valle is situated in the western part of the Asturian province, which lies on the northern coastal strip of the Iberian Peninsula. The Atlantic Ocean bounds it to the north, and the high Cantabrian mountain range to the South, of which the famous Picos de Europa are a part. It has the changeable weather associated with a coastal mountain region. This area of North or green Spain has some of the most beautiful rural scenery in the whole of Spain: spectacular snow topped mountains, deep valleys, lush pastures, beautiful coastal scenery with wave battered cliffs, wide beaches of fine sand and sheltered coves. There is an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife: deer, birds of prey, chamois, wild horses, wolves and even a small population of brown bears.

At two kms from Arriondas, with it's excellent road communications, the hotel is in a strategic position. It is an ideal base for discovering the mountains including the Picos de Europa, the Ponga mountains and the Sueve range, as well as the coastline of eastern Asturias, the river Sella and enjoying the many outdoor activities available in the area. The beaches of Ribadesella and La Vega are 13kms, while Cangas de Onis 9kms, serves as an excellent entrance to Covadonga and the Picos de Europa. The river Sella is at 2 kms, and the Sueve mountain range is 4 kms.

From Arriondas Once in the town centre of Arriondas, take the AS260 out of Arriondas signposted COLUNGA and MIRADOR DEL FITO (This sign can be difficult to see as it looks like a commercial sign) After one kilometre along this road take the right hand turn sign-posted COLLIA and TORRE. Go straight through the village of Collia (do not take the right hand turn to Ribadesella). The hotel is 300 meters on the left-hand side, down a steep cemented drive, having passed through the village. From Oviedo Airport Leave the airport following the road till you meet the main road N632 which you take in direction Oviedo and Gijon. Keep on this road till it joins the motorway which you follow direction Oviedo and Gijon. The motorway soon divides and you follow the signs to Gijon. On arriving at Gijon follow the motorway signs to Santander. Keep on the motorway following the signs to Santander. The are various ways of getting to Arriondas and the hotel but the best way is to come of the motorway when it is signposted Ribadesella Oeste and Pando. (This about 2 turnings after the first motorway sign you see to Arriondas) As you come of the motorway follow the signs to Pando and follow the small road through the village till you come to a T junction where you turn right signposted to Calabrez. (At this moment they are widening the road and the first 1 km has major roadworks). Carry along this very attractive road for about 8kms till you come to the village of Collia where you turn right. The hotel is 300m on the left hand side down a steep cemented drive. From Santander Airport Leave the airport and follow the signs to Torrelavega. (This takes you towards Santander City to start with but after about 1 km you take the turn to your right to Torrelavega.) Keep on this motorway in direction Oviedo till it comes to an end when you take the main road N632 direction Oviedo. After about 25 kms the main road joins the motorway again which follow direction till you come to the exit sign posted Arriondas, Cangas de Onis and Ribadesella. Leave the motorway and follow N634 sign posted to Arriondas. Leave the main road and enter into the town centre of Arriondas. Take the AS260 out of Arriondas signposted COLUNGA and MIRADOR DEL FITO. From Bilbao Look for motorway (blue signs) to Santander as you come out of the airport or ferry port. Once you are on the motorway to Santander keep on the motorway till you about 4 kms out of the centre of Santander when you should see blue motorway sings to Torrelevega, follow the signs to Torrelavega (There are other signs to Torrelevga about 25kms outside of Santander avoid these.) Keep on this motorway in direction Oviedo till it comes to an end when you take the main road N632 direction Oviedo. After about 25 kms the main road joins the motorway again which follow direction till you come to the exit sign posted Arriondas, Cangas de Onis and Ribadesella.
